OUR AREA OF

EXPERTISE

Why should we harness technological advancements? How do we harness it? For what purpose? Can we reap the benefits of the pace of commercially driven technological advancements and potential cost benefits by collaborations with military developments that are traditionally ring fenced under the blanket of security concerns. There are a multitude of advanced technologies in Automation, AI, robotics, communications to name a few that have “dual purpose” applications. In the defence sector itself, governments are faced with the challenge of balancing budget with the need and selection of capabilities to equip in order to transform itself to meet the new security challenges. We try to view these challenges for the defence and technology sectors as one that requires more innovative solutions by using our team’s experiences in both the defence and commercial business background. We strive to develop more holistic plans to ensure our clients goals are reached from a “business case and operational need” perspective to an operationally viable implementation.

SMART CITIES

The vision of ''Smart Cities'' is the urban centre of the future, made safe and efficient to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling development and harnessing technology. These smart cities rely on networks linking structures, sensors, devices and applications in an integrated computerized system with data flowing through the layers of sensing, communication and applications. In addition, a reliable Position, Navigation and Time (PNT) system is a fundamental enabling technology for Smart City applications. Intelligent transportation system, autonomous vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and location-based services are examples of systems that rely on accurate and precise knowledge of user position and precise time dissemination for synchronization purposes.

Escalar focuses on challenges and opportunities in these 2 fundamental areas’ (network security and reliable PNT to include accurate 3D geolocation). We aim to expand applications for Smart Cities while mitigating the vulnerabilities to prevent disruptions and chaos in a highly connected economy. Networks are vulnerable to cyber-attacks and PNT systems can be degraded or denied. We tackle these challenges by working with global technology partners that have vast experiences and strong track records in deploying country wide solutions.

AEROSPACE

The technology dependence of Airpower will continue to increase. The increasing use of advanced technologies such Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), autonomous systems and Artificial Intelligence will require a force structure that balances resource availability, allocation and the capabilities necessary to generate airpower.

The evolution of unmanned systems, both in commercial and defence applications, have spawned multitudes of opportunities to enhance operations and commerce as well as improving societies and environment. While there is significant growth in this sector, challenges remain in the areas such as safety, security, privacy, capability enhancements etc.

Escalar brings our strong military aviation background to bear on two key areas; Airforce modernisation, support and sustainment programmes as well as challenges and opportunities in the Unmanned Aerial Systems domain. We support clients in identifying new technologies, such as Swarm, man and unmanned teaming, and how they may create new opportunities for both commercial and defence applications. Cognizant of the challenges posed by Unmanned Aerial Systems, we also tackle clients’ challenges in training as well as countering the security threats from such system.
